How Can constipation Along With Abdominal Cramps be Treated?

I am having problems with my abdomen. I am always constipated, however about nine weeks ago things changed. It started with loose stools and swelling in one spot on my left abdomen. I went to the dr and he gave me antibiotics for diverticulosis. I changed my eating habits and things got a little better. A few weeks later I had a salad for supper and the next day I was in the bathroom all day!! I also had severe abdominal cramps. Since that happened the swelling on my side is a lot more pronounced and I have pencil thin stools. I also cannot have a bowel movement but every two or three days. I usually go daily. I have suffered constipation in the past due to hypothyroidism. My stools have also changed in color to a very light tan and at times white. I have terrible belching and stomach cramps. I am thinking that I could have a blockage such as a polyp or stenosis of the colon.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Pale, white stools are caused by blockage in the billiary system of liver due to disease of billiary tract like stones.
Pain and pencil thin stools are seen in a case of Irritable Bowel syndrome. in this there is inflammation of large intestines.
I suggest getting an Ultrasound done, which can detect any abnormality in Billiary tract or intestines and visit your doctor with the reports.
Hope this answers your question. Thank you
